Michael David Kalpakoff II, Board Member and Co-Director

Michael Kalpakoff brings a broad range of performing arts experience, with leading-role credits in such productions as The Who’s Tommy, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and West Side Story, as well as singing lead vocals with musical collective Your Friend and Mine. Michael anticipates earning his bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theatre in May 2021 from Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and sings with the MSUM Commercial Ensemble. Most recently he played "Dewey" in the MSUM virtual production of Six Years Old. He was part of the Straw Hat Players summer theatre troupe in 2018 and 2019, performing in several lead and ensemble roles including "Nicely Nicely Johnson" in Guys and Dolls, "Bert Healy" in Annie, and "Chad" in Disaster! Also at MSUM he directed the one-act play The Unwanted by Walter Wykes, served as assistant director for the plays Roe and Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, and co-created and performed "Anthology of Fear," an interpretive movement performance. In addition to his experience with directing, choreography, acting, singing, and various technical theatre roles, Michael plays the trumpet.
A Broadway World reviewer said of his performance in The Who’s Tommy, “Michael Kalpakoff (Tommy) was definitely the star of the show, and not just because he is the title character. This young man has talent and stage presence. He was flawless in every scene and a joy to watch and listen to.”
Michael co-directed LF Summer Musical's first two productions (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2019) and Godspell (2020). His two-year term as a member of the Board of Directors began in December 2020.
